A food and fiber crop that is cultivated in cooler regions of the world. Traditionally grown for its oil with the residue being used for animal feed. Used in the UK as a break crop and around 30,000 hectares is grown annually. Linseed is mostly a spring sown crop and average yields are 1.5 tonnes per hectare.
