Help Map Distribution of New Grass Weed

Survey released to look into spread of Rat's Tail Fescue in the UK

Rat's Tail Fescue is a growing problem in areas of Europe and starting to become an issue in the UK. A new study, between the National Resources Institute, University of Greenwich and Rothamsted Research, is looking into the distribution and abundance of this grass weed.

We need farmers and agronomists to complete an anonymous online survey to provide details of Rat's Tail Fescue on farm. And, where it is present, seeds can be collected and sent to Rothamsted Research where they will be included in experiments investigating the lifecycle to provide more information.

Please click HERE to complete the survey.

Details on identification are here: Vulpia identification Sheet and information on collecting seeds can be found here: Survey Vulpia seed Collection Information

Also see our Croprotect page on Rat’s-tail Fescue for more information.

The survey will remain open until 31st August 2021.
